No personal data collection

HoldAwake does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data.

The HoldAwake applications have no accounts, advertising, analytics, telemetry, tracking, crash-reporting service, updater, cloud service, or third-party runtime code. They do not connect to a HoldAwake network service.

Local preferences

Local preferences include the default activation duration, display-sleep behaviour, Start at Login and Activate on Launch settings, and acknowledgement state for relevant notices.

Each edition stores its preferences in its own local macOS UserDefaults domain. The App Store and Direct domains remain separate, stay on the Mac, and are never transmitted.

Local power-management operations

HoldAwake — App Store Edition

The sandboxed Store edition uses public IOKit power assertions provided by macOS. Assertions are created and released locally on the Mac.

HoldAwake Direct

The Direct edition uses local /usr/bin/caffeinate for ordinary sessions. Its optional Prevent Sleep feature uses a narrowly scoped privileged helper, local /usr/bin/pmset, and a temporary root-owned ownership marker for recovery. Prevent Sleep is per-session and is never persisted.

These operations remain on the Mac and do not contain or transmit personal data.

Information HoldAwake does not inspect

HoldAwake does not inspect documents, browsing activity, contacts, location, personal, device, or advertising identifiers, or usage history.

Deleting local data

To delete an edition's preferences, remove that app's local preferences from the macOS user account. Removing one edition's preferences does not remove the other edition's separate domain, and deleting an app does not always remove its saved preferences automatically.

Before deleting HoldAwake Direct, use Settings → Activation → Remove Helper. This restores and verifies normal lid sleep before unregistering the privileged helper. Do not remove helper files manually.

Website privacy is separate

This policy covers the HoldAwake applications. Visiting alkhatib.online, including the HoldAwake project and privacy pages, is governed separately by the website's privacy policy. The website has its own hosting, security logging, contact processing, and aggregate analytics practices.

Policy changes

This policy may be updated if HoldAwake's data practices change. Material changes will be reflected on this page before a corresponding app release and, where relevant, in the App Store privacy disclosure.

Questions about this policy may be sent to mohamad@alkhatib.online.
